The semi-autobiographical novel by a young Chinese writer, cursed and banned because of its sensuality and movement themes typical of Western culture, and China, considered to be taboo. Compared to "Catcher in the Rye" Salinger and "The Road" Kerouac, in part inspired by the work of Henry Miller, is the voice of the young generation of contemporary Chinese, showing their country on the threshold of social and sexual revolution.
main character of the book is Coco, a waitress at a Shanghai restaurant, impatient of life, who wants to better know myself. Torn between two lovers - Mark, married man from the West, and Tientiana, a loner and a drug addict, which has a deep love - writing novel, which tries to describe the present raging emotions and feelings.
