Abraham, Benedict XVI and a few reflections

Our Pope, who a few days ago ended 84 years of age, today celebrated the sixth anniversary of his pontificate (he writes about very well including the Catholic Agency Information ). His motto is "cooperatores veritatis" - associates of the truth. This beautiful and eloquent call for the period which came out for humanity. At a time when so many wrong hails the sole depositories of the so-called truth (which involves pride, arrogance and complete blindness samozachwyt) Holy Father, remember that the truth comes from God and should just work with it - and not to use, bend, distort for their own, often nefarious purposes. A mitzvah modern world such purposes ...

Benedict XVI is an extraordinary character. Recently I had the pleasure to read his two books: an interview-the river under the title The Light of the World and Spirit of the Liturgy wonderful , which he wrote while still a cardinal. From the moment you read it first person of His Holiness always reminds me of an association with the biblical Abraham. In an interview with Peter Seewald asked the Pope:

Holy Father, 16 April 2005, the 78th day birthday, Your Holiness told his colleagues, how much has already happened to your retirement. Three days later, your Holiness was elected as head of the universal Church, amounting to 1.2 billion followers. Well, it seems that is a task that a man prepares himself for older years.
- In fact, I expected to finally find peace and relaxation. When suddenly I had to face this enormous task, it was for me, as everyone knows, a shock. The responsibility is vast indeed.

was a moment, as Your Holiness later said he felt like Your Holiness, the falling guillotine blade.
- Yes, I thought of the guillotine: behold, now is the blade falls and hits me. I was absolutely sure that this office is not my vocation, that God will provide me now, after a grueling years, a little peace and relaxation. I could only say, to realize: God's will is clearly different and for me to start something completely different, new. He will be with me.

Benedict XVI, like Abram heard the call (the next in your life) and decided to accept them. In Genesis we read :

Lord said to Abraham:
"Go from your kindred and

your father's house to the country, I will show you. make of thee a great nation ,
I will bless thee, and make your name will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you will,
and those who you will be cursed, and I will curse.
of you will
nations be blessed throughout the earth. "(Genesis 12: 1-3)

next verse begins with the words: Abram went on his way, as the Lord commanded him ... - immediate admission will God this thing is amazing considering what Yahweh asks Abram (who does not even have the right to expect the intervention of the Lord - refers to the pagan era, for many years before Moses, and even more against Jews as such.) principle we know him that old trees are not exaggerating . Abram in spite of the age gives to overdo it, and time will tell, that will be able to even greater sacrifices. No wonder they call him, along with Jews and Muslims, Father of the Faith. The ability to offer a sacrifice of his son, of which we read later in the Book of Genesis (and of which Abraham was happily relieved by Yahweh) is something really unusual (and from a human point of view - maybe even scary!). So he wrote about the incident CS Lewis, author of the famous Chronicles of Narnia , who lost and then regained his faith in Christ in his suffering problem :

common example is the "test", which was subjected to Abraham, when he ordered him to sacrifice Isaac. I do not do here historicity or morals of this story, but the obvious question: "If God is omniscient, had to know what Abraham would do, without the need for such an experiment, so why in that case is unnecessary torture?". But as St. Augustine points out, no matter what you knew God, Abraham certainly did not know that his obedience to such order can survive until until there is an event that taught him, the obedience, which he would not know that they will choose, one might say that it has been selected by him. The reality was that the obedience of Abraham's deed, and what God knew, knowing that Abraham would obey, "was the actual obedience of Abraham to the top of the mountain at that time. To say that God is "unnecessary attempt to put it," mean to say that there is no need for God to been known at all occurred.

As you can see: it was not God required test. She was required to Abraham himself. Let us now return to the Holy Father. He, by the mere fact of being the next successor to St. Peter and the Vicar of Christ on earth, it is subjected to many a "test", the many sacrifices and victims. The church is constantly under attack, and Pope Benedict XVI had already faced many a very difficult situation (for example the case of pedophilia among the clergy). He is still faithful to the decision he made six years ago. All the time goes on, despite his age, at the head of the Church. So I want to encourage everyone to pray for the Holy Father Benedict XVI: To continue with the faith of Abraham, did the will of God and realized his extraordinary vocation.

Thank you, Lord, for our Pope Benedict!

Holy Ghosts, God, who guides the Church, or continuously with the Holy Father, Pope Benedict. Follow his intentions, bless his words, take care of his strength and support me in the fire of love for the Church and to all people. Amen.
